The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects across the State, as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office.
Speaking during a Joint Ministerial Media Briefing held on Saturday at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo, the Governor highlighted key achievements recorded under the ARISE Agenda.
Responding to questions from journalists, Governor Eno commended contractors who are performing well on various projects across the State, noting that several ongoing works are progressing satisfactorily.
He, however, expressed concern over the slow pace of execution of some projects, particularly the Tabernacle Road project.
The Governor stressed that contractors must match government’s commitment with timely delivery of projects, maintaining that where government has fulfilled its obligations, contractors are expected to do the same.
He warned that any contractor who fails to meet agreed timelines would face contract termination, adding that the Tabernacle Road project will be reviewed if it is not completed by July.
The Governor also called on journalists to continue partnering with government in providing accurate information to the public, saying that the media is the Fourth Estate of the Realm and a critical voice for ordinary citizens.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, presented a comprehensive scorecard of the administration’s three-year performance, highlighting major milestones including over 1,300 kilometres of roads and more than 40 bridges delivered, expanded healthcare coverage, agricultural support programmes, housing projects, youth empowerment initiatives and ongoing strategic investments in aviation, power and the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
The briefing also featured commissioners and heads of relevant government agencies who responded to questions and provided clarifications on issues concerning their respective ministries and agencies.
