Godwin Etim Foundation Donates Architectural Equipments to Uniuyo

… Vc says the facility will enhance academic excellence

As part of its commitment to fostering education and innovation, the Godwin Etim Foundation has donated 130 drawing boards and stools to the department of Architecture, University of Uyo to assist students align with global industry standards and make learning more memorable.

Speaking during the presentation, the Founder, Engr. Godwin Etim informed that the initiatives is aim to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industry application.

Engr. Godwin who was represented by Barr. Godwin Idobo, stressed that the equipment by the foundation is to strengthen students’ interest in the critical area and make prototyping, design, and engineering more accessible, participatory, and enjoyable.

According to him, “In Godwin Etim Foundation, we are providing solutions to those in needs. Life is full of challenges, that’s why we do our best when this challenges comes to us.”

Barr. Idobo added that one can only become proficient in his chosen field of study only when the right tools are provided. “We believe that the equipments will be use to the edification of students and the University at large.”

The foundation representative expressed confidence that Engr. Godwin Etim will continue to foster a new generation of innovators who will drive Nigeria’s economic growth, adding that the facility will inspire future architect to think creatively and solve real-world problems.

The project, facilitated by Akwa Ibom State ARCON rep, Prof. Usen Udo was commissioned by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo on Thursday at the Faculty of Environmental Studies.

Speaking at the commissioning, Prof. Ndaeyo disclosed that the university and others in the country might not be able to acquire such sophisticated practical tools without the gesture of men of goodwill like Engr. Godwin Etim due to a paucity of funds.

The VC said: “We are really very grateful for this facility considering that we are almost phasing out some of these things as a result of a lack of funds. This has to do with the yearnings that will also improve the knowledge of our people, especially the students. As you donate to us today God will also donate to you,” he added.

“So when we have an organization that has come in to meet our needs, we can only say thank you. This facility will help improve and enhance a lot of things within the university for students and staff and also drive collaboration between academia and industry.”

On his part, the project facilitator, Prof. Use Udoh, informed that the world-class equipment values at 20 million naira donated by the foundation would strengthen students’ interest in this critical area of science and technology.

He described the technical lab as more than just a architectural upgrade but a catalyst that would fastrack academic excellent.

These state-of-the-art multi-million naira lab will provide students with hands-on experience in the latest architectural tools thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of architecture.”

In their separate commendation, Dean, Faculty of Environmental Studies, Prof. Anthony Udeme and the Head, department of Architecture, Dr. Luna Bassey poured encomium on Engr. Godwin Etim for his magnanimity to the department.

High point of the event was the handing over of the equipments to the department, and presentation of award by the Nigeria Institute of Architects, Akwa Ibom State chapter to the donor.
