Leaders and stakeholders of Itu Local Government Area have unanimously adopted Engr. Emmanuel Udang from Itu-OMA zone as the sole aspirant for the Itu State Constituency seat in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 APC primaries, in a strong demonstration of unity and shared political direction.
Resolution was reached during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday at Mbak Obio Itam, convened by the political leader of Itu, Rt. Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong, in collaboration with the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Hon. Ubong Nkutt.
The meeting brought together present and past political office holders, party executives, and key stakeholders across the local government area.
Engr. Emmanuel Udang, a seasoned and renowned engineer with many years of professional experience, was unanimously adopted following a motion moved by former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon, and seconded by another former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Kennedy Ekong.
Stakeholders described the decision as the outcome of wide consultation, merit consideration on Zonig, and broad grassroots acceptance.
In a related development, stakeholders also endorsed Rt. Hon. Ime Onyeme Okon, member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for a second term, commending his performance, effective representation, and commitment to constituency development.
He was accompanied at the meeting by the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. Asuakak Umoh, alongside other stakeholders from Ibiono Ibom who also expressed strong support for his endorsement.
The meeting further reaffirmed total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing their leadership as central to ongoing reforms and development at both national and state levels.
Speaking at the meeting, Rt. Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong commended Governor Umo Eno’s leadership style and inclusive governance approach, urging stakeholders to remain united and continue to align with his development vision as the 2027 elections approach.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, emphasized unity and continuity in governance, noting that Itu remains fully supportive of the state leadership and committed to sustaining collaboration with the Governor’s administration for continued development across the area.
He further noted, in a reflective and unifying tone, that stakeholders acknowledged the importance of fairness and inclusiveness in political representation, observing that it aligns with the spirit of equity and balance within the Itu State Constituency over time, while maintaining respect for all zones and their contributions to the area’s political evolution.
Other prominent stakeholders, including Obonganwan Grace Ekong, Professor Etok Ekanem, Akparawa James Edet, Ntufam Engr. Akan Okon, and Dr. Barr. Godwin Awah, all expressed strong support for the adoption and endorsements, describing them as strategic steps aimed at consolidating unity, stability, and electoral strength.
Itu APC Chapter Chairman, Mr. Archibong Thomas Bassey alongside other Chapter and ward officers, also aligned with the resolutions and pledged full mobilisation in support of all adopted and endorsed candidates.
The meeting ended on a note of renewed unity and commitment, with stakeholders reaffirming discipline, grassroots mobilisation, and sustained support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
