The Uyo Legislative Council has marked its one-year anniversary in office with a series of activities that reflect its commitment to service, compassion, and people-centered governance.As part of the celebrations, which took place over the weekend, the Councillors, led by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Ekemini Bassey, embarked on a compassionate outreach to the Divine Childrenβs Home, Atan Offot, Uyo Local Government Area.
At the orphanage, the Councillors presented various gift items to the children and spent time sharing words of encouragement, love, and hope. They urged the children to remain steadfast, positive, and trust in the promise of a bright future. Prayers were also offered for their wellbeing and success.
The management of Divine Childrenβs Home also thanked the Councillors for choosing their facility as part of the anniversary events, describing the visit as timely and uplifting. They prayed for divine blessings and greater success in the Councillorsβ service to the people of Uyo.
The Uyo Councillors also went for a thanksgiving on Sunday, October 12, 2025 service at Redeemed Christian Church, Yahweh Power Parish to appreciate Godβs faithfulness throughout their first year in office. They expressed gratitude to God for wisdom, guidance, and protection during their legislative journey.
In his remarks, Hon. Ekemini Bassey commended the Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, for his continuous support and fatherly guidance, describing him as a pillar of encouragement to the Legislative Council.
He also lauded his colleagues for their unity, cooperation, and steadfast service to the people, noting that their achievements over the past year were made possible through teamwork and shared vision.
In a related gesture, the Councillors returned to their various wards for ward briefing where they empowered their constituents with cash gifts and wrappers for the women, reaffirming their dedication to grassroots development.
