β’β’β’ as Ndikpo Grammar School receives school supplies
The Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis, in collaboration with the Ini Ememobong Foundation, on Sunday, awarded scholarships covering the tuition fees for 10 underprivileged students at the University of Uyo for an entire academic year.
Akan Emah, a member of the club and Past District Governor of Rotary International District 9142, made this known on his Facebook account on Monday, noting that the initiative was part of the clubβs Basic Education and Literacy Programme.
According to PDG Emah, the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis scholarship programme amounts varied between N65,000 and N106,000, depending on the studentsβ respective fields of study.
Cheques totaling more than N900,000 were presented to approximately 10 delighted beneficiaries at the occasion.
Two of the recipients, Edikan Akpaso and Elijah John Samuel, received special support from the clubβs president-elect, Sylvester Kalu, who pledged to cover their tuition fees until they complete their studies.
βArbic Consulting Ltd, a company in which our President Nominee βJames James β has an interest in, volunteered to pay another one academic session for the other eight students.

In the Rotary Calendar, September is designated as the month for Basic Education and Literacy Programs. On Thursday, September 18, the Rotary Clubs of Uyo Capital City and Uyo Diamond, led by their presidents, Ekemini Ukim and Ubongete Akpabio, donated essential school supplies, including exercise books, to Ndikpo Grammar School in the Ibesikpo Asutan local government area as part of their commitment to Basic Education and Literacy.
During the event, Prof. Uduak Ndubisi from the University of Uyo offered valuable counseling to the students, discussing topics such as βCareer Choices, Career Goals, Personal Growth and Development, Academic Focus, and Overcoming Literacy Barriers.β
According to PDG Emah, the session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging by asking questions and sharing their personal experiences.
In addition to the counseling, the clubs also ensured that NECO and JAMB forms were purchased for numerous students, and they donated dictionaries and mathematical sets to support their preparation for senior certificate examinations.
The Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis had previously contributed to the school by providing a borehole, constructing 12 toilet facilities, and implementing a water reticulation system about four years ago as part of its Water and Sanitation Project.
